Self imposed challenge, anyway, since it wasn't like those pokemon ones that are like "draw your favorite type each day" or anything. I just really wanted to contribute some femslash, and push myself past my "every two weeks or so" usual posting rate.

I'm pretty proud of myself cause I've never drawn something every day before. I always hear people saying the best way to get better is to draw all the time, everyday. BUT I honestly don't think that's for me. (Maybe a doodle very day, but not a full blown picture.) Or, at least, I know that single day time constraints are not for me. Cause that makes me rush, and that makes me sloppy. I do a lot better when I can draw and post at my own pace.

Gonna take a drawing break for a little bit, but I think my next focus will be on finally finalizing my and Embers's Sailor Digimon. Ref sheets for mine - she did the Inners, I did the Outers plus Moon - have been long coming. (Baby, In-Training, and Rookie anyway; all the other stages can come later.) And I'll probably draw hers too, just so it's all uniform.

Pony practice in the mean time too, still trying to work on my style for them. Avengers stuff too, as always, as well as pokemon stuff and human practice too. I will probably end up adding a trainer+pokemon team specific category to my commissions soon. Which are open. Just... throwing that out there.

(There was some very very mild talk with a friend about going to Bronycon later in the year. That'll be on the east coast and I'm on the west. Plane tickets aren't cheap, if this even happens; i'm DEATHLY AFRAID OF AIRPLANES. If we do go though, I hope to have prints aaaand my friends and sister and I are hoping to start making plushies. I don't know if we will but I want to BADLY. I've made derpy little plushies before and i loved it.)

Only there for one day, but it was fun! :3 Very cool to see various DA members, like ~IraeCoal, *johnjoseco, and *purplekecleon (Who I totally fangirled over though I didn't say hi or anything.) I wish I could have seen the VA panels (I think that's Saturday?) but it was still cool to see all the booths and stuff. And *Sibsy ._. That was cool.

Anyway, I haven't updated much lately, mostly because I wanted to keep my last journal up. (Riley got her surgery, and everything's fine :3) Not much has happened in the last three months. About a week ago though, three of our dogs got into a fight - this happens every few months because the oldest is food territorial (and another will jump into a fight because, I dunno, she wants to finish it) - and said oldest got one of her front teeth knock out of alignment, and had to have it removed. Then our Gramma got into a car accident that wrecked her car but she barely got hurt 0_o That's about the extent of excitement I can think of...

Figured I'd get my thoughts out there, because it's actually starting to annoy me.

I hate the fact that there are enough people out there complaining about an innocent background pony that it warranted a reaction from Hasbro. Some of the people who were offended have my sympathy, but from what I saw, another huge part never seemed to take the time to clam down and think about what they were saying. Derpy is NOT mentally challenged, the intent was NOT to make fun of the disabled, and I truly doubt any of them knew what "derpy" even meant. NO ONE who had ANY part of her creation PURPOSELY made her stereotypically disabled. That was just an unfortunate consequence, just like with Rainbow Dash's personality and rainbows stirring up stereotypical lesbian assumptions. If we are heavily FAMILIAR with it, we will SEE it. That doesn't mean it's THERE. If Hasbro is going to change her name, I hate that this was the reason.

However.

Why the hell are people making such a big deal over this too? If this goes through, they're not TAKING HER AWAY. They're just going to change her name. Is that really such a big deal? Is that SO important to you? You can't just be happy with everything else the show is giving you about her; the "Where's Waldo" once an episode, more screen time, the deliberate cross eyes, a voice. No, her name MUST be... "Derpy." Personally I never liked that name to begin with, and it shouldn't have even become canon. It ruins the fun for those who don't like it. Because it doesn't matter WHAT her name really is, you're still free to call her Derpy. It doesn't matter. Derpy is our creation, not the show's. It doesn't matter what her name is. Don't you guys remember when she had different names? Ditzy Doo, Bright Eyes, and "Derpy Hooves" is split between whether the "Hooves" is added or not. (I'm sure there were more names I just never saw.) When we all thought her name was probably Ditzy, no one really cared; if you wanted to call her Derpy you had every right to. Because she's just a simple, random background pony. The same is true when her name became canon and it will be the same if her name changes again. (Don't forget, only Rainbow said it; it was actually done in a way that it could have been a nickname. If her name changes, it will not affect a thing.)

Or am I wrong? Are they really pulling the character away for good? Because all the information I've found is only referring to her name. And that's really not something to cry about.

Look, the team loves us, and I'm grateful for all the acknowledgement; but we're not the show's target demographic, they don't HAVE to bend over backwards to please us. We should be thankful for what we get, not throw a fit when it doesn't go our way.... Over a name like "Derpy."

I decided to use it as a place to update on the projects that I'm working on x3 (I'm horrible at keeping up with that over at my FFN.)

I'd love to get CS4 someday, but for now, I'm fine with my good ol' 7.0 x3 It looks pretty stylish on Windows 7. I need to hook up my other computer to get some things like my downloaded brushes, fonts, and stuff, but I'll do that later. Can't wait to see what it's like to use it with more than 500 MBs of RAM.

Now I just need to figure out what my first picture of the new year should be... (My first doodles on paper were baby ponies x3)

Happy New Year all! :3 (I was away from my computer for most of the day.) I think, with the exception of losing my job in September and the resulting "I'm a useless fuck" thoughts at night that came with that, 2011 was probably the best year I've had since 2008 (the year I graduated high school.) Had a job for a year, so I made money that let me afford shit, went on an awesome vacation, actually drew some decent humans, discovered ponies, discovered Rose McGowan (read: "FOUND MY SOULMATE") watched so much more Charmed than in 2010, patched up a relationship with a dear friend that had been rocky for years. Also got my first commissions ever! AND A NEW COMPUTER. Spring semester was pretty damn amazing; the Creative Writing class was probably the most interesting and challenging class of my college experience, and in a school that is FAR below my HIGH SCHOOL level, is was surprisingly welcomed. (This isn't counting the Math class in which I just gave up completely xD)

My resolutions this year are probably the same as last year, which were:

(Yeah, I kinda did that. I haven't been writing as much as I wanted to though.)
"- DRAW HUMANS"
(Not yet mastered, but I'll definitely be doing that this year. I just need to write the script for my nuzlocke.)

(I'm slowly getting over my fear of phones. Or my own phone anyway. I got it October 2010; I didn't even turn it on until halfway through the year, I was so afraid of it ringing. Now, I keep it on all the time, and while i still don't really enjoy talking on it, I don't feel the urge to throw it across the room when it rings x3 It helps that I put Zelda music on it for ringtones. The only problem now is I think my number is the same as someone else's; people I don't know keep calling me.)

It feels so amazing to be able to turn on my computer and not have to wait half an hour to open Firefox. I can't wait to start playing around with it; and with my new scanner! (Still getting used to this new keyboard though.) My monitor is also doing something funky, where the font suddenly looks like it got a bad Sharpen filter applied to it 0_o It sorta happened with my other computer too, so I have no idea what's going on. Maybe I need an HDMI cable?

Also I don't have Photoshop, and I have no idea where the CD is. 0_0 (I swear we let someone borrow it, I just can't remember...) It's only been a day, and I'm actually kinda going a little nuts because I need it; it's so important to me. I can get a few trials, but those only last so long. And, I know I could get SAI, and it's cheaper and people say it's really good, but I'm a Photo person; I know how to use it and how to make it work for me (like I know how to get smooth lines.) I've been working with it since high school. I mean the reason I wanted a new computer was so I could work with large Photoshop files without problem. xD The official Adobe site is fucking stupid; it's like once a new version comes out, all previous ones don't exist >< If I can't get it within the next few months, I guess I'll just go with SAI... (and if I REALLY need it, I can just hook up my other computer. But that's so much effort xD)

I've been waiting until knew for sure what was up to say anything, but eh, looks like I'm still jobless. Over the past few weeks, I tried to work at a Party USA for the Halloween season; no call back, though my little sister got in, which is great cause she needed money x3 Where she worked, there was a Petland, one that we've been familiar with ever since we moved to Vegas (not long after doing so, we got a Golden Retriever from there, but returned it because it was kinda mean and Goldens aren't supposed to be mean. But we got our two youngest corgis from a different Petland, and there's fine.) I've always wanted to work in a pet store, and I've always liked Petland; they have puppies you can play with x3 They were having group interviews, so my sister and I tried, and we both managed to get through two more interviews and were hired. My job was to open; feed the puppies and clean the kennels.

My first day was yesterday, but unfortunately, it was also my last. It sounds easy, but all the steps involved make cleaning extremely hard (and the grates are heavier than they look.) Not to mention... so much poop. Have I mentioned I'm germaphobic? (And even then, not really - more like poop-aphobic. Granted, I was still willing to do it, I just felt so unclean all day.) It was me and one other guy working together, but it took us five hours to clean out the kennels. Something that one person is supposed to do in two. So, the owner let us go. I wish I could have stayed and seen if I all I needed was more practice (I mean it took me a few days to get the hang of things at Kripsy Kreme) but I dunno, I'm not beaten up about it. Mostly, I'm just upset that I have to go back to impossible task of job hunting -_- Time to go back to that Petsmart I made friends with... On the plus side, I got to hold a lot of puppies ^-^

1. Why do you dislike #11 so much?
My least favorite type of pairing is when the girl is older and taller than the boy (I don't know why, it just doesn't sit right with me; but I do make exceptions.) So it had that already in the way; other reasons are just I don't see the appeal. I don't hate it, but it just makes me go "Um, no thanks." I kinda find Spike's crush on Rarity a bit annoying; but at the very least it's handled better than other "younger kid liking older teen" cases.

2. Who do you know that ships #13?
My sister, *MellowYellowPony. I never would have thought about this pairing if she hadn't brought it up, and I think it's adorable. I might even come to really ship it if I see more of it (I'll have to doodle it myself.)

3. What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3?
That's kind of hard for me to answer, because of my top three, this is the one I think about the least; primarily because in my own head-canon, these are the two that come together the most naturally. Generally I usually just imagine Pinkie throwing a party just for the two of them; she teaches Flutter to be just a little more out going, while Pinkie also learns to not be so hyper when she doesn't have to be.

4. What is your favorite moment for #1?
I think the moment that made me squee the most was in "The Return of Harmony Pt 1." Rarity comes to help Applejack, but does not want to get wet in any way. But when Twilight's spell doesn't work, she's right there with encouragement and willingly gives up her umbrella, without Twilight even asking for it. It was just so subtly adorable, and I'm all about subtlety with this pairing. (That episode had a lot of little Twility moments.) Also, the flank-shove in Sonic Rainboom needs mention x3

5. How long have you been following couple #6?
For as long as this picture came up: [link]. I still don't really know if I even truly ship this or not; but I like the idea of it - minor/background ponies who are wildly popular despite their little screen time. (I may like Lyra/Derpy more now that I think about it; I dunno, we'll have to see. But I don't want Trixie alone either. I have this weird need to ship everyone who I feel deserves to find love…. So everyone.)

6. What's the story with #8? What made you stop caring?
Honestly I never really liked SpikeBloom; but I did think it was cute. It was kind of like, "Oh people like this? Kinda random, but ok, it's pretty cute." I probably could have gotten behind it if my sister hadn't mentioned Spike/Sweetie.

7. Which ship do you prefer--#2 or #4?
#2; AppleDash was the first pony pairing I shipped, and was my pony OTP until Rarity became my favorite and I got more behind Twility. I love their dynamics and totally canon BFFness. Though Rainbow/Rarity is cute too, and maybe even could have been my preferred Rainbow pairing if AppleDash hadn't gotten me first.

8. You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12.
#10. Oh man, my relationship with this pairing is a tricky one, because it's so popular and the last thing I want to do is step on anyone's toes (especially because my top three are the only pairings I 100% care about anyway) but this is the only pairing I can think of that I truly dislike and wish wasn't so popular. It has a lot to do with it being EVERYWHERE within just a few episodes; I was so confused because I could not get where it was coming from, and didn't understand why it seemed to be the default Rainbow or Pinkie pairing. I still don't. (It didn't help that in the beginning, Pinkie was my least favorite, and Dash was my top favorite; I generally don't pair my most with my least.) There's also just, when I look at Rainbow, then Pinkie, then them together… visually, I don't see it, and I'm a very visual person, especially with pairings. Overall, nothing about it clicks in my head. I don't know why, I just don't like it. I don't mind that other people do, I just wish it wasn't so pronounced.

9. What interests you about #14?
I find the DJ vs. Classical idea so cute xD The scruffy Vinyl with the more clean looking Octavia; different genres, yet still both having a bond through music. Very nicely opposites attract for me. Also, this: [link]

10. When did you stop liking #7?
I guess when I started liking Twilight with Rarity more? I used to think "Oh, Twi/Trix is pretty cute." but the more I thought about it, the more I just didn't really like it as much as I thought I did (which actually wasn't even that much.) At the very least, I like that most people have Trixie be pretty affectionate with Twilight, which gives me hope that I can have her be nice to who I pair her up with - be it Derpy or another.

11. Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the series?
What? No, of course not. I don't mind Lyra/Bon-Bon, I like it more than DashPie or Spike/Rarity. But like DashPie, I don't like the default-ness of it, especially since it's another case of not knowing where it came from. I've heard there's a collection of screenshots that show just how many times they appear together, but I've never seen it; and I rarely see them together when I watch the show. If other people do see them, then I can get that, but I just haven't. I think it'd be nice to see a little more variety with those two.

12. What's a song that reminds you of #1?

My top 3, with Twilight/Rarity being my most favorite. I find them to be the most interesting because, of the six in my own head-canon, Twilight and Rarity are the only ones who I do have as being straight. (I have Rainbow as gay, Pinkie and Fluttershy as not really caring, and I guess I'll have Applejack as straight but not narrow, still not too sure about her. Again, this is just my own HC.) And I LOVE exploring sexuality like that; it just makes the pairing all that cuter to me. I've also been thinking about Pinkieshy more lately, because it's so cute and sweet, and Discord/Celestia, because it's my newest.

The Krispy Kreme I was working at closed down (I knew it was coming, we weren't making very good sales) and since I was only part time, I got laid off. I managed to save up a good chunk of money because of that trip in July, but I'm worried if I don't find another job soon, I won't have enough for Christmas shopping; and recently, I've been dying to buy a new computer, but I have to put that on hold now. Fuck, um... To be best friends with the people on my top ten list. (I will get them all drunk and make out with them. Except Jesse McCartney. He'll provide amazing background music. And I'd be all, "Kay guys, we're gonna watch Tangled and Grindhouse today. Take a shot every time Mandy says something cute and Rose says fuck.")
